AS Monaco, founded in 1924, are the only non-French club to play in the top French division. Their 2016/17 team, which won Ligue 1 and reached the Champions League semi-finals, was one of Europe's great sides — featuring Kylian Mbappé, Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy and Fabinho, all of whom were sold for enormous profits.
